not seen this before,what is causing this affect

It is an optical effect of a bright star somewhere else in the field of view. The detector is not perfectly absorbing - and some of the light will reflect off - back to the window that keeps the vacuum of the detector and then finally back to the detector. Somewhere else in the field, there is a very bright star.
