    It's often called a #fmo (fast moving object). Planes, satellites, and even the occasional meteor will show up in just one frame. Because each image is a 30 second exposure, nearby objects like that which move rapidly over 30 seconds create streaks like that.

    You will also sometimes see a pattern in the streak that can help you guess at its identify, such as an intermittent increasing in intensity due to flashing lights on the wing of a plane, or fast repeating increases and decreases in intensity over the streak from a spinning satellite reflecting more then less light.
