Black circles iterating in a triangle

  • domanite by domanite

I've noticed several times there will be a black circle (in this picture, its a little lower-left of center), and in each frame of the four, the circle is in a different, but close location, and oddly it seems to jump around in the same pattern each time I see this. If you overlap the frames, the circles are about in the corners of a triangle (and the fourth on the base of the triangle). Anyone else see these?

I have seen them in many images. I believe that it's some kind of camera artifact.

They usually are a bit of dirt somewhere in the system that casts a shadow. They exist and move around over the different nights.

These are in either specks of dust in the optics or ccd artifacts. They move between the frames due to dithering - which is done on purpose - so that their motion cannot be linear or otherwise resemble that of real objects

So... mark as "artifact", right? (I saw same thing in http://talk.asteroidzoo.org/#/subjects/AAZ0001aai lower left )
