Zigzag

Sorry if this is a novice question: This appears to be an asteroid, but it zigzags about, is this usual?

Reg, It is a white #ffd - flat-field defect, basically dust or spot on the lens. They come in all shapes and sizes, may be white like a star, or more of a point, but most often are a black spot. The motion is due to camera motion between frames. Search for the tag #ffd in the discussion boards for more on the topic.
