random movement or 2 objects or some sort of artifact

  • wassock by wassock

This is the 2nd set in a row that has shown 4 points moving in a very similar way. Could be 2 objects on tangentalish paths or one which just jumps around. Things that in each set tge relative positions of the 4 points look very similar between the 2 different sets of images, suggesting it is something systematic. Think I've seem dark blob artifacts moving in a similar way too. They're just above center on the right

AAZ0001u3s shows a very simikar pattern of movement, mid image about a third of the way down

Yes, this is the standard movement of artifacts. When each picture is taken, the telescope is moved so that a slightly different portion of the device collecting the image is used. This offset cause artifacts to move around in this standard pattern (up between frames 1 and 2, down and to the right between 2 and 3, then left and slightly up between 3 and 4), while stars stay still and asteroids move in a straight line.

Note: You can accidentally cause the illusion of a straight line if you are using the keyboard to cycle fast between frames really fast. If you click 4, 1, 3 (or 4, 1, 2, 3 and ignore frame 2), the object looks to move in a line, but the real movement is revealed if you look at just 1, 2, 3 then 4.

Ok so do I mark them as artifacts or just ignore them?

Ideally, we'd like them marked as an artifact.
